Time Warp

Being a writer I tend not to know what day of the week it is – but I did remember to put my clocks forward on Saturday night. I may have lost one hour’s sleep, but losing days is something else. How confusing was it when citizens lay down their heads on the night of the 2nd September 1752, and awoke on 14th September? Eleven days were erased so we could bring British calendars, which followed the Julian model, in line with the Gregorian calculation, a more astronomically correct calculation. One certainty: it would have thrown my writing schedule right out the window.
